Seaside - A Master Planned Community

Studied by design professionals and architectural schools worldwide, the master planned community of Seaside is a potpourri of housing styles, from southern cottages with wide front porches, to Victorian, all while being visually appealing.

Founded in 1981, developer Robert Davis envisioned a community where people would gather, relax and enjoy a simpler way of life. Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company visited several Southern cities and designed Seaside based on Davis’ ideas.  Seaside contains a thriving downtown that attracts residents and tourists from the nearby, more secluded beach towns, including Seagrove to the east and Watercolor to the west.
