Across the country, parents are preparing this week to send their children back to school, spending hundreds of dollars on books, uniforms and cold cuts for brown bag lunches. Another key back-to-school purchase for many families is a new home.

As more and more people have discovered, the Emerald Coast is a great place to live and work year-round; Walton County’s full-time population has grown by 11.8% in the past five years, and Destin’s by 10.4%.  That growth has brought lots of new schoolchildren to the area, so naturally one of their parents’ first questions when choosing a home is, “How are the schools?”

When assisting buyers in a second home market, finding the right property that suits all of their wants and needs, doesn't always come easy. This weekend we shot a video from Gulf place covering Dune Allen Beaches along through Blue Mountain beach finishing up at the neighborhood of The Retreat.  Notice toward the end of the video that Draper Lake had just opened up into the Gulf.  We don't get to see this happen all that much.   Draper Lake was high and there was a lot of white water initially once it broke through.
